    Why be like that?

I am a fan, so naturally it sucks, I love watching him fight, he is one of my favorite fighters.

But, I respect him as a man. He is just trying to find a way to provide for his family for the rest of his life. He can't fight forever, and his body has taken a beating over the years. I have no ill will towards him, as a man, I respect him as a man for trying to take care of his family.

And Burton, as far as I know, if you retire, the contract is void. The UFC will just be **** outta luck. Its like the NFL system, when you retire, the contract is void.
The reason I replied like that is because it sucks to see Rampage completely leave his MMA career and accomplishments behind for some acting gig he's trying to get just to relinquish a few childhood memories of him and his father watching television shows. That, to me, shows a total lack of commitment and direction in his career. Yes, in his blog he states that he feels he was done wrong by the UFC and Dana White, but wasn't this the same company and man who came to his rescue and helped maintain his career following his incredibly notorious "road rage" incident" not all too long ago?

It just seems so short-sighted and uncharacteristic of Rampage to suddenly give up fighting so quickly just because of some beef between him and Dana regarding his decision to try and take up acting. The excuse about his father feels like just that - an excuse - to cover up the fact that he's actually angry at Dana and therefore wants to try and screw him over by leaving the company. In fact, it seems as if he is overreacting even with the "victim" role he is trying to play in saying he has been given fights he didn't want or that he has been asked too many times to fight when he couldn't. I understand it was wrong that he was done that way and anyone would complain about it, especially with the jaw injuries and so forth he has sustained, but again, it seems as if he's overreacting to the situation and making it seem worse than what it really was.

But hey, who knows what's really going on in Rampage's head or if Dana White and the UFC are really the evil ones in this case. All I know is that I'm really going to miss seeing Rampage in MMA if his words hold true, and it's going to be a ****ed shame if the Rampage/Rashad fight doesn't follow through following the Ultimate Fighter season. Talk about a bummer for the finale, especially after the trash talk between the two we've already seen. And not only will we be losing a great character, but also a world class fighter. This just flat out sucks, and that's why I'm bitter and, yes if you say so, immature about the situation.

People on sherdog are talking a bunch of crap on rampage.

As for the lhw division - jardine is average he will never be a contender for the belt, spider no one knows if he will stay in lhw long enough to make a title run, wandy is on the way down he is nowhere near the same fighter that he was before, Vera is also average imo, and i didnt think nog had signed with ufc yet could be wrong tho.

Yeah, Rogerio's brother, Rodgrio said it at the last press conference before his fight with Couture.

The only elite LHW the UFC doesn't have is Mousasi, and that would be a HUGE edition.

Rampage doesn't owe us ****. He has given us 10 years of great fights, it would be selfish of us the fans to get all mad about this. He is choosing to provide for his family, in a way he doesn't have to take a beating. How can you talk crap about that?
I dont blame him one bit.
Dana came to his rescue, not because of Rampage the man, but because he wanted to milk Rampage for all the dough he is worth, thats what Dana does, he doesnt give two ****s about the fighters, all he cares about is him making money off them.
Look at the Jon Fitch situation, Dana FIRED him, the #2 WW, and #8PFP fighter, because he refused to sign over his LIFETIME video game rights. He eventually signed, because Dana would not let him come back until he signed the video game rights.

    Re: Quinton 'Rampage' Jackson---Retired?

Rampage is a grown man," White told Carmichael Dave on the radio station KHTK (audio here). "He's acting like a baby right now, but he's a grown man. If he wants to be in the movie business, Rampage, good luck to you, man. I hope he makes it big, and I'm not being sarcastic. ... I hope the movie thing works out for him. If that's what he truly wants to do, and that's what he feels and that's what he thinks his career is, I wish him all the luck in the world."

White said he didn't get any advance warning from Jackson about the surprise retirement announcement and that he still likes Jackson personally, but that if Jackson wants to leave the UFC, White can't stop him.

"I just found out, too," White said. "Rampage has been a friend of ours. We really like Rampage. I'm not going to get into the battle of who's done what for who and all that stuff. We've done a lot for him and yes, he's been there and fought. The guys who come in here, they're fighters. That's what they do. We give them fights and they fight. And they make money and we make money. That's the way it works."

    Re: Quinton 'Rampage' Jackson---Retired?

Here is a post on Sherdog that is pretty good in my opinion and basically echoes my sentiments:
Thread title: "Dana White: He must be a **** (SARCASM)"

I don''t get why people think Dana White is the bad guy in all of this. He's been very, very good to Rampage

-He gave him a title shot after beating Marvin Eastman
-He gave him the honor and privilege of unifying Pride MW and UFC LHW titles
-He continually pays him more money. He made 170K in his debut and 2 years later he's making almost double that
-He flew out to Orange County and Bailed him out of Jail after his childish road rage incident
-He got him psychiatric help and counseling after the incident
-He let him coach 2 Seasons of the Ultimate Fighter
-He granted his request for a fight in his hometown, he gives him the main event on what would have been one of the best bad blood matches in the sport, which would have made him even more money.

And he skips out to do an 80's TV show remake, deserting his fans, Rashads fans, and leaves Dana to clean up his mess?

    How can anyone defend him?
Biggin, I understand your viewpoint, but I think Rampage playing the "victim" role is incredibly petty considering what Dana and the UFC have done for him. And that consists of MANY things most other fighters will/have never been granted or given.

    Re: Quinton 'Rampage' Jackson---Retired?

Here's an interview with Rashad Evans about 'Page not fighting anymore.

Did you hear what Rampage said about leaving the UFC? What do you think about it?
I think that him coming out and saying stuff like that was a bit premature. He's jumping the gun a little bit. Rampage is a very emotional fighter, a very emotional person, and he just let his emotions take over his rational thinking. I think that him and Dana White just probably need to talk it out, and get past it. I think it's just a breakdown in communication.
Dana's the kind of guy who is going to say what is on his mind, maybe without thinking it through all the way, before he said. Rampage is a hothead, as well. You get two tempers like that, go at each other like that, it makes the situation hard to work through.

What are your thoughts on not fighting him?
I'd be disappointed not to fight him. It would be a good fight, a fun fight, but mostly because he talked trash. He got me really angry, and I want to fight him just because of that alone. It's a fight that people want to see. You get your mind wrapped up, and you get your mind so psyched up about fighting a fighter, and then it doesn't happen, it's disappointing.
That's why I hate making a fight personal. At the end of the day, we're professional athletes, and we get paid to do a job. But when you get to fight someone you really want to fight, that's like a bonus. You'd almost do it for free.

You would have punched Rampage in the face for free?
I would have loved to punch him in the face for free.

Did you get close on the set of "The Ultimate Fighter?"
We came close a couple times. Not even just on the set, but outside the set, just out in Vegas. I saw him in the club one time, and I walked by his table. He jumped down, and was running his mouth, and he got a shove in on me. Then I got kicked out. But then they let me back in, but I was mad about that.
I think now, he's trying to make it a thing every time he sees me, to jump down and try to get in a shove. I try to stay professional. I don't want to fight for free, but if I have to ...

Do you not realize WHY DW does all this?

He wants to drain Rampage. He is ONLY in it to make money. He realized that Rampage could be a huge star here, and he wanted to make all kinds of money.

And Chubz, I post on Sherdog, those guys are haters, and just talk all kinds of ish.

Rampage got the perks because he is one of the best fighters in the world. Its not because Dana gives two ****s bout him personally, its all about that mighty dollar.
If Rampage sucked, he wouldn't have been given ****.

But none of that is the point.
Rampage made a decision, one he thought was best for his family. He wants to make sure his family is taken care of. He cant fight forever, he needed a way to make money for the rest of his life, and he chose it.
How can you be mad at a guy trying to secure his familys future?

EDIT--and some of that list is bullshiit.
He was given the privilege of unifying the titles?? HAHAHAH
He had to FIGHT to do that, and after that, they didnt say Jackson was the unified title holder, they called him the UFC champ.
If Rampage was given the privilege, then so was Henderson. But its not like Dana did it because he wanted Rampage to be a champ like that, he wanted big PPV buys, nothing more.

Chubz do some research on Dana White; He cares NOTHING about his fighters, he just wants the money.
